Many frequent travelers spread their loyalty across so many programs that none of them ever reaches a useful reward. Consolidation is the fix: concentrate your travel into fewer programs so your points actually add up to something.
Pick a primary airline and a primary flexible points currency that transfers to partners. Steer your bookings toward them when the price and schedule are close, and let the minor programs fade. Depth in one or two programs beats a shallow balance in ten.
Watch for expiring points and keep each account active with occasional activity. Rewards you earned but let lapse are the most expensive kind of nothing.
