Duty of care is the responsibility an organization has for the wellbeing of people traveling on its behalf. For the traveler, it is the safety net that matters most on the day something goes wrong, from a canceled flight in a strange city to a genuine emergency.
Know how to reach help before you need it. Save the emergency contact and any travel assistance number in your phone, and understand what the program covers: medical support, evacuation, and real-time alerts about disruptions where you are headed. A number you cannot find at 2 a.m. is not much of a safety net.
Share your itinerary with someone who will notice if plans change. The systems work best when they know where you are supposed to be, so they can reach you fast if the situation shifts.
